Lowitja Institute Health and Wellbeing Scholarships

Certificate IV Health and Wellbeing Scholarships and Postgraduate Health and Wellbeing Scholarships are available to students who would like to develop their skills and knowledge in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research. Past scholars have completed courses in project management, public health, policy and analysis. These scholarships support students wanting to develop their skills and knowledge within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research workforce with entry-level study.

Higher Degree Research (HDR) Top-Up Health and Wellbeing Scholarships are available to students enrolled in a higher degree by research and have passed their confirmation of candidature. This scholarship supports emerging researchers with a research focus related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and aligns with Lowitja Institute’s Research Agenda.

Lowitja O’Donoghue Foundation Nursing Scholarships

The Foundation’s scholarship program pays respect to the memory of Yankunytjatjara woman, the late Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue AC CBE DSG. Dr O’Donoghue’s extraordinary lifetime of work in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, as a trailblazer who opened doors, and kept them open, created opportunities for generations to follow in her footsteps and embrace a future of possibilities.

The scholarship program offers three targeted streams to support aspiring and current nurses in advancing their qualifications:

GLOWS Scholarships

Round 2 of the (Guiding Local Opportunities for Wellbeing) GLOWS Scholarship program includes streams that support students wanting to develop their skills and knowledge on how to increase health equity and address disparities driving transmission of HIV and viral hepatitis within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Public Health Scholarships offer supplementary financial support to assist students to undertake studies towards their entry into the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research workforce.

The Postgraduate MAE Scholarship stream supports an MAE Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander scholar through their studies towards their entry into the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research workforce.
