Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have become experts and leaders in their fields of research, producing research that has had positive impacts on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and reflecting their priorities and needs. For these reasons, it is crucial that the Australian Government support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers, organisations, and communities to advance their research priorities, translate their research outputs into practice, and centre Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges in doing so.
