Lowitja Institute engages in policy and advocacy work that contributes to a range of key policy discussions related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing.

We work in close partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peak bodies, community controlled organisations, professional associations and the Australian Government, as well as mainstream health peak bodies and professional associates, non-government organisations, and philanthropic organisations.

Our policy lifecycle begins with priority setting that is led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, researchers and organisations. These policy priorities are then actioned through our research commissioning process, policy co-design and policy strategies.
