Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research Theory and Practice
Lowitja Institute is the proud course owner of the Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research Theory and Practice, a nationally accredited qualification. We will be supporting AHMRC Training to deliver the course from 2023.
Who is it for?
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who are looking to:
- formalise and extend their experience in research
- complement and extend their qualifications in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health care, or
- gain an entry-level qualification for pursuing a career in research and a stepping stone to further university-level study.
Where is the course based?
The course will be blended delivery online and face-to-face. Residential workshops will be held at 35 Harvey Street, Little Bay NSW 2036. The course is delivered by Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of NSW (AHMRC), RTO Number 91020.
What does it cost?
ABSTUDY eligibility criteria will apply, including funding to support travel for the face-to-face components.
Course outline
The units in this qualification are:
- Use research outcomes to support organisational and community change
- Conduct a literature review for research
- Engage in community health research
- Interact with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation members and the community
- Work legally and ethically
- Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety
- Secure and manage funding
