Scholarships
Lowitja Institute scholarships aim to support the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health researchers. Our scholarships contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership of health research by providing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to develop skills in areas relevant to meaningful health research.
Over the course of our scholarships program, Lowitja Institute has facilitated opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at all levels within the health research workforce and we have funded more than 160 students. These talented scholars have undertaken certificates, diplomas, cadetships, and higher degrees by research.
Our 2024 scholarships closed on 5 February 2024.

Learn about the new GLOWS Grant Program, a partnership Lowitja Institute, Gilead Sciences, and The University of Queensland (UQ) Poche Centre for Indigenous Health which offers scholarships and research grants to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations and their partners for work relating to HIV and viral hepatitis.
