Members Community
As Australia's only national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled health research organisation, Lowitja Institute places Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and cultural understanding at the heart of our research process and outcomes.
We are creating a vibrant and engaged Members Community, and invite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and organisations to join us, as we continue to work towards realising Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue’s vision. We also welcome non-Indigenous individuals and organisations who are aligned with our vision and values to connect with us and join this diverse network.
Building on the strength and agency of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, we offer connection, support, and development opportunities to enhance the capability of our health research workforce.
A nation is only as strong as the health of its people and we all have a role to play. However, better outcomes can only be achieved when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a strong and leading voice in research. The contributions from our Members Community are integral to creating research outcomes that centralise and amplify the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We are on a journey, one that is informed by our long history of caring for our Country, for our cultures and our peoples.

Individual members
We welcome individual members to join our Members Community, including Lowitja Institute scholarship and grant recipients, past and present (Alumni). Non-Indigenous members are welcome to join as Friends of Lowitja Institute. Please note: individual members do not have voting rights.
Organisation members
We welcome organisations to join our Members Community. Please note: Associate member organisations do not have have voting rights.
