Invest in organisational research
By donating you are making a genuine contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers and their communities.
Since 2020, Lowitja Institute has invested $4.8 million in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research through 26 seeding grants and 19 major grants and our research methods, and since 2010 Lowitja Institute has invested $26.5 million to 148 health research projects.
A study of our research found that 25 per cent of Lowitja Institute project investigators went on to receive further grants.
Our research is built on priorities identified by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, 100 per cent of the projects we funded over the last five years featured Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander researchers. The impact of our projects goes beyond healthcare, influencing approaches to service provisions in education, housing and justice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders communities:

‘The fact that it is genuinely community-initiated and led is the key to the project’s success. It’s not just research for research sake, it’s giving young people a voice and making sure the research has an immediate benefit for the community.’
