This is the final report on the Framework for Research on Aboriginal Health and the Physical Environment. The aim of this project was to provide a framework to assist in the development of a focused and strategic research program in this area, which is a priority area for the CRCAH. A literature review summarised research in each area of the physical environment, such as housing, waste disposal, dog health, dust and food supply, and highlighted recommendations for research identified in the literature. The report found that many of the interventions reported in the literature were not based on either good evidence or good knowledge of Aboriginal peoples perceptions and needs. This points to the importance of setting firm evidence-based research priorities, and further investigating Aboriginal peoples perceptions and needs in order to develop health strategies and actions.
